P.I.E., or Pacific Intermountian Express was formed in 1940 thru acqusitions and mergers of several companies. P.I.E. becam one of the largest LTL carriers in the nation. It operated almost every type of available road equipment, including a large number of the 351 Pete's it had acquired in 1954, with the purchase of  West Coast Fast Freight.
